FCN Library at Bare Oaks

We are honoured that the Federation of Canadian Naturists (FCN) has selected Bare Oaks as the location for the FCN library. When finished, the library will contain several donated collections of magazines, newspaper clippings, videos and other archival material from the world of naturism that go back to the beginning of the 20th century. It will be an invaluable resource for anyone interested in Canadian naturist history.

To make it work, the FCN needs volunteers. We need:
  1. Head Librarian – To organize and catalog the collection.
  2. Renovators – To fix up the inside of the trailer and to build a deck in front.
  3. Attendants – To maintain the collection and supervise during opening hours.
Interested? Send an email to fcnlibrary@bareoaks.ca or call the Bare Oaks office at (905) 473-6060

Webworms not tent caterpillars

All those webs on the trees aren't as bad as you might think and are not tent caterpillars. See the article below from YorkRegion.com:

Don’t let webworms bug you
Webworms form cocoons such as this one at the end of trees. Experts believe higher than normal rainfalls this summer may contribute to their early arrival. They usually don’t start until late summer.

Take a look out the window or have a gander next time you mow your lawn and you might notice your trees are sporting cottony webs at the ends of some branches. Get a closer look and you will see that these cotton webs are, in fact, alive.
